Miss Oh See Moey

I began my teaching profession as a Physical Education (PE) and Mathematics teacher in a secondary school. I have taught in government, autonomous and independent schools.  Subsequently I went on to take charge of the PE/Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) department. Thereafter I moved on to school leadership in primary schools as a Vice-Principal for two years and as a Principal for seven years prior to my pursuit of MEd in Educational Psychology – Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) in University of Missouri St. Louis in Fall 2014.  Upon completion of my studies under the MOE Postgraduate Scholarship, I joined the CCE Branch at MOE Headquarters in August before my current posting.

As a principal, I deem Character Education as the curriculum that is relevant to today's learners because it will prepare them to better meet the opportunities and challenges that are ever evolving in life.  Hence in leading my school, I would adopt a student-centric, values-driven education to guide this school in focussing its efforts and resources towards the holistic development of my students.

Character development is important to our children who are living in a so-called VUCA world – volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous.  It is critical to provide the necessary moral compass and life skills because adult guidance may not always be available in their developmental journey.  In providing students the quality learning experiences, it is hoped that they can be developed into flourishing individuals with the desired moral character and performance character.  May all our children be anchored on sound values and be empowered with 21st century competencies to accomplish excellence with ethics as they learn and grow to be work ready, world ready and life ready.
