Family Matters @ School

Our school has been selected by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) to be under their FamilyMatters@School (FM) programme. This programme is fully funded by MSF. It was officially started in ParkViewPrimary School on 1st of April 2006. Since then, we have organised more than a hundred talks/workshops/trainings sessions for parents and students.

It is well established that the parent-child relationship has much impact on the child’s academic achievements and positive attitudes/behaviour, regardless of socio-economic status, ethnic/racial background or parents’ education level. As such, the main aim of FM is to enhance family bonding through its programmes.

The FamilyMatters@School programme seeks to:

a) Equip parents with the skills and knowledge to:

  • Enrich and strengthen their family life; and
  • Foster better parent-child understanding and relationship;

b) Equip students with:

  • Life skills;
  • Skills to build healthy relationships with their peers and family; and
  • Positive values and attitudes towards family, relationships and life in general

Our PSG has been an integral part of the success and smooth running of Park View Primary School. For those who are not familiar, the PSG is essentially a group of Parent Volunteers that help fulfill different needs of our school. They have helped out in programmes such as our annual Budding Chefs for the P1 & 2s, and even events such as camps and Learning Journeys. We are blessed to have such a group of capable volunteers that are willing to put in their time and effort to further the goals of our school.

The PSG is formally recognized by the school and they even have their own office! The PSG room is located at the ground floor, just behind the canteen. PSG members hold their meeting and makan sessions there on a regular basis (The food is always fantastic!). Having a dedicated room has been a huge boon to the operations of the PSG as they now have a conducive environment to facilitate discussion and implementation.

Visit the PSG page on our website for more information on their activities and their structure!

The family resource room serves as a resource library and a place for parents to hold meetings, to network and build closer ties.

Parents can also seek information on family life issues.
